Two-step verification is one of the most effective ways to secure your accounts, whether they are online or offline. In this case, it is not enough to know the password to log in; but physical access from the account owner’s phone is also required.

As a result, it’s a good idea to turn on two-step verification for your Microsoft account as soon as possible to protect your Hotmail, Office, Skype, and other Microsoft services.

Setup is simple, and you can do it in minutes from any PC with internet access; but, entering into your account will be a little slower from now on, for security reasons.

I recommend to do the same with your Google account, particularly if you use an Android phone.

You won’t have to worry about anything because the authentication SMS usually arrives within seconds. Here’s how to set up Outlook and 2-Step Verification in Microsoft.

Log into your Microsoft account

Logging into your Microsoft account is, of course, the first step in implementing this additional security protection. To do so, login into your Microsoft account and type in your email address and password.

This will almost certainly be the only time you can log in in this way, because after you’ve activated authentication, you’ll have to wait for a code to arrive through SMS on your phone.

Then, for Android and iOS, you must download the Microsoft Authenticator app and activate it by providing your login credentials. Then, using the code you’ll get through SMS on your phone, verify your identity. Continue with the tutorial once the app has been set up.
